One of the most effective ways to make eco printing colors stronger and more durable on fabric is by using natural tannins.
Common sources of tannins include:
- Coconut husk
- Tea leaves
- Jolawe fruit
- Rambutan peel
- Mango leaves
- Guava leaves
- Avocado leaves
Use whichever tannin source is most abundant and easily available in your area.
To prepare the tannin solution, boil the selected plant material, then strain the liquid. Use the resulting solution to soak fabric that has already been thoroughly washed. This tannin soaking process is carried out before the fabric is used for eco printing.
